A good Lawncare Program is the most important aspect of having a beautiful, green lawn. Structured fertilization and care will ensure your grass is receiving all of the essential nutrients needed for healthy growth.
Fertilizing a lawn regularly will not only maintain its healthy green color it will also help prevent disease and weed problems. A thicker lawn naturally prevents weeds from even starting. It also improves the control of erosion and run-off. Our lawn care programs are designed to meet the specific needs of each individual property. An assessment is made at the start of each season to determine exactly what your particular needs are and then provide a detailed written evaluation outlining when each of applications will take place.
Our Lawncare Programs are built around establishing the proper combination of essential elements needed to best suit your property. The most important of the many elements needed for a strong lawn are Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium (NPK). These numbers make up the elemental analysis found on all fertilizers. (ex.: 28-5-10)
Nitrogen: The nitrogen cycle is one of the most important processes in nature for living organisms. Although nitrogen gas is relatively inert, bacteria in the soil are capable of “fixing” the nitrogen into a usable form (as a fertilizer). It will promote growth and rich color while increasing the density to prevent the growth of weeds and pests. The ratio of Nitrogen will usually be lower in the Spring and Fall when tempurature and moisture levels are higher.
Phosphorus: Phosphorus is used primarily to encourage strong grass root growth and establishment of new root systems. You will commonly see an increase in Phosphorus during times of new planting and renewing of old lawns. The amount of Phosphorus usually will remain relatively equal in throughout all annual applications.
Potassium: Potassium is an essential constituent for plant growth and is found naturally in most soils. Potassium is used to enhance your lawn’s resistance to disease, drought, wear, and cold weather elements. You will commonly see an increase in potassium during fall and winter fertilizations to maintain root strength throughtout winter dormancy.
Finding the right combination of those three elements is vital to creating a beautiful lush lawn that has the resiliency to continue year after year. Crabgrass and broadleaf weed controls are combined with the fertilizer applications at the proper times for optimal effectiveness.
